  • Serving food to the homeless

  • Organizing donations for thrift stores

  • Cleaning animal shelter pet cages

  • Petting animal shelter rescue animals for socilaization

  • Helping at the local senior center pancake breakfast

  • Organizing files and cabinets at schools

  • Make shoes to send to Africa

  • Make filament holders for fishing line

  • Make fleece blankets for pregnancy centers

  • Color pictures and send drawings to nursing homes

It has been a pleasure doing community service through the years as a Girl Scout, a 4-H member, as a Pi Theta Kappa member, and as a student, as a youth group member. No matter what group I am serving with, it always brings me and those I serve indescribable joy. I hope that you can find that joy by finding the right volunteer job for you! May you become a life-long volunteer!

"The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. Once achieved, it shows colleges, employers, and your community that you’re out there changing the world." "Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors are ready to take the world by storm—and Girl Scouts will give them millions of ways to do it.

They can travel to amazing places like Costa Rica, Japan, or India; explore exciting careers in a variety of fields, from science to the arts to education to government; take on big projects and help others in a big way. And, of course, they can earn their Gold Award, which (by the way) adds that “little something extra” to their college applications. Seniors and Ambassadors are eager to spread their wings—and Girl Scouts helps them take flight."
